If you need to quickly and precisely mix samples on a robotic deck – go no further. The BioShake 3000-T elm thermoshaker provides high-speed mixing action and temperature control for the most demanding robotics applications.
The module is only slightly larger than a standard microplate, and with its patented vibration-free shaking, you’ll be amazed that the BioShake 3000-T elm can blend samples in a wide variety of vessel types. Fully adjustable between 200 rpm and 3,000 rpm, well beyond the speeds of most other brands, guarantees fast, splatter-free, mixing for tubes, glass vials or across an entire 384-well microplate.
It is completely equipped for hands-free operation with an extensive remote command set for easy software integration. Through the integrated microelectronics no other external components and control devices are necessary.
Integration in robots
The BioShake can be operated via RS232 user interface. An automatic initialization will start after turn on. A simple command set allows you to easily control hardware and sensors. The process parameters are controlled and read out. A self-setting zero position of the shaker plate after turning off makes the timeconsuming electrical tracking unnecessary. This ensures a maximum of operating security also in the unmonitored continuous operation.
Wide range of applications
The BioShake 3000-T elm comes with a variety of standardized and specific adapter plates. The adapters allow an optimal fit for microplates, deep well plates, PCR plates, standard tubes, lysis tubes, glass vials and other sample vessels. An excellent temperature uniformity and homogeneity is guaranteed by using these adapters. For special sizes we recommend our customized production according to your specific needs.
Homogeneous and accurate temperature control
Within the BioShake 3000-T elm thinnest, large-area heating elements and sensors are integrated. The heat output of 75 W can be adjusted seamlessly from room temperature to 99°C. The equipment is fitted with a new and very reliable electronic temperature control which ensuring optimum warming of samples. During the heat up time the special electronic control system guarantees the same temperature for all vessels with minimal deviations.
Gentle mixing of samples by planar orbital motion
German designed and manufactured, BioShake 3000-T elm thermoshaker offer an ultra-efficient, 2-dimensional shaking axis so that samples mix completely in a fraction of the time of competing systems. The mixing orbit of 2.0 mm is always constant. The orbital shaking is precisely controlled, in fact, that you need never spin down your plates after mixing. Even tubes, vials, high density plates, or low sample volumes, offer no obstacle for these precision tools.
Edge Locking Mechanism (ELM) – A scientific innovation for automatic positioning and gripping
Many robotic applications require precise dimensional spacing of pipet tips and robotic grippers relative to a microplate. The Edge Locking Mechanism (elm) is the complete answer for repeatable and accurate positioning of microplates on a robotic deck. It consists of 2x2 stainless steel pins and a 2-point electromechanical mechanism to lock down microplates safely in the center of the module. For gripping of microplates the ELM opens the clamping automatically. This “universal” design is perfect for all types of plates: from low profile to deep-well; from 96- to 1536-well. And when “locked” into place, the microplate varies by as little as +/- 0.1 mm making demanding manipulations a breeze.

Safety

Safety of the user and ease of use are clearly a priority for us. Independent investigations from TÜV services and CE certifications guarantee the highest security standards.
The quality label "Made in Germany" means to you:
- Years of trouble free operation.
- The sealed housing to protect mechanical and electronic components increases the lifespan of 10 years on average of well maintained equipment.
- All units are designed for continuous 24 hour unattended operation when utilizing sound scientific methods.
- To prevent laboratory fires, all units feature an over temperature circuit which switches off if an over temperature situation occurs.
- Thermal damage to any unit is minimized or prevented, as all models come with a fire resistant aluminum housing.
Temperature control
The BioShake 3000-T elm heats from ambient up to 99 °C in a short time, provides ease of use features, amazing comfort and maximum safety.
Within the BioShake thinnest large-area heating elements and sensors are integrated. During the heat up time the special electronic control system guarantees the same temperature for all vessels with minimal deviations.
Temperatures are selectable from ambient temperature to 99°C in steps of 1.0°C.
The nominal regulation accuracy is better than ±0.1°C with a uniformity of temperature distribution better than ±0.5°C at 45°C across the heating surface.Exchangeable adapter plates and thermal blocks enable a perfect adaptation to microplates, tubes or glass vials.
LED indication lights
All BioShake devices as new version 2012 have internal algorithms and sensors for monitoring operating parameters and error detection. Any errors are sending out via RS232 communication interface. Those are easier to detect and localize.
To improve the functional testing during installation and visualizing the operating status all
BioShake automation devices are equipped with integrated LED indication lights.
The indication lights allow a quick function test and error control. These have a green and red indicator lights that light up either, or are disabled.Description

Optimization of mixing results
The adjustment of the optimal mixing frequency for microplate or tubes should always be made in dependence on the size of the well and the filling volume.

You have full control of the shaker via RS232 commands. An simple command set allows you to easily control all parameters:- Initialization,
- Starting and stopping,
- Acceleration,
- Velocity and
- ELM clamp mechanism.
Features include a precise home position every time the unit stops, text status output and diagnostics.
Integration ComponentsThe integration package for the BioShake includes the following items:

Chronological order to install the BioShake- Install the shaker in the robot.
- Use 2 screws for the adjustment and fixation.
- Connect the shaker with the RS232 (or USB) port from your PC.
- Connect the 24 VDC power supply.
- Automatic initialisation and execution of a self-test for ca. 30 sec.
- It is ready, when the device returns the status "initialization completed".
- The elm of the shaker is closed.
- Now you can send and receive commands.

Daisy Chain Box
Daisy Chain Box is a pre-wired box to allow 2 to 8 devices/modules to be connected to a single PC serial communication port.
The BioShake units can be configured for operating in a daisy-chained, individually addressable, single serial port mode. This mode allows many shakers to share a single serial port on your PC.
The configuration requires that the cable D-type connector modules at the end of each D-type connector shaker interconnect cables be connected together in a manner where the serial output from one shaker connects to the serial input of the next shaker, and on and on.
Up to 8 BioShake units can be connected together in this configuration, and the mode will also work with only one shaker. Since there are only three wires used in the communications for these shakers, it is easy to assemble a cable or connector box for the daisy-chaining configuration.
Unused device ports have to be terminated with RS-232 terminators.Order number
